Medellín History Itinerary: Comuna 13 & More
Medellín's transformation is one of the most remarkable stories in Latin America, and this plan follows it in three days. Start in Comuna 13, about 4 hours from Parque El Poblado: the neighborhood went from one of the most dangerous in the world to a symbol of change, and its graffiti tells how.
On day 2, travel to Hacienda Nápoles, Pablo Escobar's former estate, now a theme park and wildlife refuge, with pickup at your hotel. On day 3, the Pablo Escobar history tour visits the neighborhood named after him, his tomb, the house where he died and Inflexión Park, built where the Monaco Building stood.
This is history, not entertainment. We talk about what happened, about the victims and about how Medellín transformed itself, and we never glorify violence or the people who caused it. If you have one more day, the planner can add a day trip to Guatapé and El Peñol Rock.
